Gary Ahladianakis, Esq. Attends Greek Independence Day at NJ State House

On March 23, 2026, Greek Independence Day was commemorated inside the New Jersey State House during the Assembly voting session with Speaker Craig Coughlin (D-19), as members of the Greek-American community gathered in Trenton to observe the 205th anniversary of March 25, 1821, celebrating the Greek peoples’ freedom from the enslavement of the Ottoman Empire. The commemoration being held during the formal proceedings of our State’s government brings a historic national anniversary into the daily work of our elected representatives.

Present for the commemoration was our very own attorney, Gary Ahladianakis, Esq., who is Of Counsel with CLDDGP and also serves as the Assistant General Secretary and Assistant Legal Counsel to the Hellenic Federation of New Jersey (HFNJ).  Pictured is Gary with Speaker Coughlin in the Assembly Chambers during the event.

Assemblyman Clinton Calabrese (D-36), who represents parts of Bergen and Passaic counties, was among the sponsors of the event, alongside the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of New Jersey, which comprises 55 parishes that serve the faithful Greek Orthodox Christians in New Jersey, the Greater Philadelphia area, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia. The Greek Independence Day ceremony was led by a proclamation reading on the Assembly floor by His Eminence, Metropolitan Apostolos of New Jersey.

The observance was also supported and attended by the members of several Greek-American organizations, including the HFNJ, the New Jersey Hellenic Heritage Commission, AHEPA and the Daughters of Penelope.
